the birth

so around 3.30pm on weds 11/26 i started feeling contractions, but they were irregular and short, but when they came, they came 2-3 mins apart for 30-60 mins then they'd go away and return 10-15 mins later. i didn't know what was going on. i called mum and asked york to come and play with w for a while, but around 6pm decided nothing was actually happening and went about a normal evening routine. i went to sleep with the irregular contrax still going around 11pm, at 12am the contrax woke me up so i told y to get ready and called mum to come watch w. she sounded less than thrilled, but as i was informed later, was just concerned. luckily ctd was there still on lv time and excitedly drove them both to our house to watch w. (also an error, see comments) while i was on the phone to ctd my water broke, gush. the contax remained 2-3 mons apart which had me worried we might not make it to the hospital, but mum and ctd got to our house v. quickly and we were at the hospital by 2.00am. i was checked and only 4cm. poo. i was in a lot of pain, i didnt remember being in w. wiley. right after being checked they lost the baby's heart beat on the monitor and all freaked out a bit. the dr had me roll into a terrible position that brought the baby's heart rate up again, but the position seemed to exascerbate the labor pains. i threw up once, york held the trash can for me. of course i wasnt about to move, but now i wish i had asked to change positions, because...at 4.30a i asked for an epidural. big mistake. first of all the anesthesiologist was a prick. he made comments like, why are you getting an epi this time when you didnt last time? and that was it? after i'd have a contaction. anyway, he put the epi in at 4.30am. right after the epi was in i was checked and was 8cm, (if i'd known i was that close i think i could have madeit without the epi to 10cm). my bp dropped to 80/50 so i was really dizzy and they were talking about tachycardia, at the same time, the epi numbed me up to my neck, which made it really hard for me to breathe. i kept telling myself not to panic and by 4.45am the epi was turned off, i could breathe and feel stuff again by about 5.15-5.30am. i was checked again and was 10cm and started practice pushing w.the nurse. the dr came in and i was pushing w. her at 5.50am. i think it was only 3 or so pushes, really painful, i do remember that w. wiley. and archer was out at 6.01am apgars of 8 and 9. 2 stitches w. a first degree tear.

i should add that wiley spent the night at grammy's, our first night apart ever. they tell me he did well--well behaved, slept well, etc. but i really missed him.
